Clear horizon and a tanker loitering off the coast of San Diego afforded an opportunity to zoom in on the vessel from different heights along Hill St above Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma.

$Research Vessel Sighting: No Mirage? Same Shelter Island location as recent videos. 20 ft above MLLW. 18 ft above tide level. Cool, breezy, broken/overcast. Rare no-mirage day. Happened to catch Orca Maritimes RV Benthic Cat working just inside 8-mile range from where I was recording. I dont see any refraction-produced distortion or mirage, which is rare. Theres usually at least a slight amount of inferior mirage detectable. The drop from horizontal is much more evident than apparent obstruction at the horizon.
