An 85-year-old man says he is close to a breakdown after being ordered to remove a £2,200 driveway built outside his home in Rochford, Essex. David Siggins, who uses two crutches, says he was told the grass verge was not council-owned before transforming it to make accessing his home easier. Rochford Council says the land is public open space and has given Mr Siggins until the end of August to restore the verge.
