While visiting our children in the Bay Area, we hiked one of the local favorite trails near Mount Tam about 30min north of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Dipsea-Steep Ravine-Matt Davis Loop, starting from Stinson Beach TH. This area is very lush with a variety of plants including the giant redwood trees, and the trails are well maintained and quite enjoyable. Total stats: 7.5 miles with 1700ft elevation gain
