Devil's Causeway is a unique, narrow land bridge in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area of Colorado. It’s about 3-4ft wide at the narrowest section and rocky, with extreme exposure on both sides, so one needs to watch each step when crossing it, which is part of the thrill. There are numerous campgrounds and dispersed campsites along the road to the trailhead, which seemed less than half full when we visited over that weekend. There were also multiple wildfires burning in western Colorado which made the sky hazy and air quite smoky. However we’re still struck by the natural beauty and expansiveness of this wilderness area and plan to be back in the future to explore more. Total stats out/back to the Causeway: 6 miles with 1600’ elevation gain
