Solo backpacking and wild camping trip out into the very remote Fisherfield mountains of Scotland.
Spent two days in the mountains exploring this amazing and remote area. This backpacking trip was during an amazing hot spell of weather and to be honest I started to suffer badly from heat exhaustion.
The Fisherfield Forest - also known as the Great Wilderness - contains the remotest Munros in all Scotland. The effort required is fully repaid, however, as this is a spectacular region of dramatic peaks and ridges - the views from the summits are often claimed to be the finest in Scotland.
The route is an epic round of all five Munros and one Corbett, starting and finishing at Shenavall bothy or a nearby wild camp.

Despite their modest height, walking and climbing in the Scottish mountains may be made treacherous by their latitude and exposure to Atlantic weather systems. Even in summer, conditions can be atrocious; thick fog, strong winds, driving rain and freezing summit temperatures are commonplace.
