What happens when a symphonic metal band decides to expand its sound beyond borders, languages, and genres? On Break the Silence, Beyond the Black aim higher than ever and in this video, I break down whether it actually works.
Released on January 9, 2026, Break the Silence is the sixth studio album from German symphonic metal band Beyond the Black. This concept album blends melodic and symphonic metal with world music influences, multiple languages, and powerful guest appearances from Chris Harms (Lord of the Lost), Asami (Lovebites), and Gergana Dimitrova (The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices).
In this review, I talk about my personal connection with the band, the themes and production behind the album, and go track by track through all ten songs including singles like “Rising High,” “Break the Silence,” “The Art of Being Alone,” and “Ravens.” I also discuss how the album explores communication, isolation, resilience, and reconnection in a divided world.
After multiple listens, Break the Silence continues to grow on me, and I share my final thoughts and score at the end of the video.
