Let's talk about the Croatian dialects.
The Croatian language has three main groups of dialects, known as "supra dialects" or "narječja," which are named after the interrogative pronouns used in each: Čakavian, Kajkavian, and (West) Štokavian. Each of these groups contains multiple dialects—6 in Čakavian, 6-7 in Kajkavian, and 4 in Štokavian. These groups are referred to as the "trinity of the Croatian language" and serve as an abstract system to help linguists categorize and study the dialects. In practice, however, there are many local idioms and variations within each group, reflecting a complex system of linguistic characteristics. You can pause the video to read their descriptions.
