Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.

Special Thanks to Dzojon :)

The Burgundian language, part of the East Germanic language family along with Gothic and Vandalic, likely originated in Scandinavia before migrating to the Vistula River region. The Burgundians spoke an early East Germanic dialect and moved into Roman territories in the 4th and 5th centuries, settling in what is now Upper Burgundy (eastern France and western Switzerland). This migration led to significant Latin influence, especially in governance, law, and religion, as the Burgundians converted to Christianity in the 5th century. After the Burgundian Kingdom was absorbed into the Frankish Empire in the 6th century, the Burgundian language gradually faded, replaced by Latin and its vernacular forms by the early medieval period. Few runic inscriptions and historical references remain, but linguists study Gothic and related languages to infer its characteristics. Despite its disappearance, the Burgundians left a lasting cultural and historical impact on the region of Burgundy.
