Since I am particularly interested in large-scale chemical processes, I decided to tackle the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis this time. The Fischer–Tropsch process is a series of chemical reactions that converts a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, known as syngas, into liquid hydrocarbons. These reactions occur in the presence of metal catalysts, typically at temperatures of 150–300 °C. In total, I spent 200 hours working on this project—one of the most nerve-wracking undertakings.
