Another favorite of mine from the great lone Derek and the Dominos studio album. This is a song that started out as a jam and was fleshed out in the studio. Bobby Whitlock wrote the lyrics and finalized the arrangement. He and Eric Clapton were heavily influenced by Stax artists Sam & Dave on this one and sung it in a style very reminiscent of many of their tunes.
Jim Gordon lays down such a fantastic driving but relaxed 16th note groove on this tune. He switches to a very cool hi hat pattern played on the upbeats for the pre-chorus. Lots of great fills on this tune as well. All very musical and not showy in any way. He had such a unique and identifiable sound.
