This was so much fun to try to recreate! This is arguably the most iconic and widely recognized drum beat of all time. Plus, it’s been copied so many times over the last 60 plus years. Such a perfectly orchestrated drum and percussion arrangement, expertly played by the great Hal Blaine and Frank Capp.
I did my best to get this as close to note for note as possible. There’s a point coming out of the bridge where the song goes back to the chorus and it sounds like Hal mistakenly comes in a beat late with the chorus groove. I kept that in here as well.
