I’m a big fan of “Beatles For Sale”. I feel like it doesn’t always get the respect that it deserves. Also love the US “Beatles ‘65”release. That’s what I grew up hearing as a kid before the cd’s were first released in ‘87 and ‘88.
This tune is another great example of Ringo’s phenomenal feel with grooves that walk the fine line between straight and swung. He’s one of the masters at that.
I overdubbed tambourine here as well but didn’t shoot video for it. I’ve always thought it was interesting how they chose not to have tambourine during the middle harmonica section out of the second chorus and then again in the very outro of the tune. Seems like obvious spots to have tambo, but that’s the Beatles for you… Always keeping it interesting.
