Luca Franchi, CEO and co-founder of Ambios Network, is changing that. Ambios is a decentralized environmental monitoring network on Solana, starting with air quality. Anyone can plug in a sensor, contribute readings, and get rewarded with tokens. The result is a global, real-time map of what's actually in the air, built by the people who breathe it.
Since launching in January 2024, Ambios has deployed more than 7,000 devices across 45,000 participants and collected over 12 billion data streams. That's roughly five years' worth of air quality data across Europe and North America. Asia is next.
The model is simple. Tell Ambios what you need to measure, and the network can spin up coverage almost overnight. Public datasets are sparse and often go offline after major weather events. A decentralized network keeps watching when traditional infrastructure fails.
