"Why we started building on Solana was, I think, three core things:
1) It was de facto the fastest blockchain to date. Fastest block times, lowest fee blockchain today that's sort of sufficiently decentralized.
2) The responsiveness of their engineers in sort of 2020. You go into their Discord, you ask for something, you get it the next day. Previously, we were in crypto ecosystems that were just talking about some white papers and like PhDs sitting at a roundtable and not doing anything, just like discussing.
3) We actually seen Solana's leadership sort of more push for sort of like commercial use cases. And I think that drive had been pushing Solana for the past five years to always jump into new trends, to always enable new technology, to make technical roadmaps of an L1 blockchain that the world hasn't seen before.
I don't know which other blockchains has like a six-month cycle of shipping insane new things. There doesn't exist one. We can just sort of like, let's theorize about what's the ideal consensus mechanism. No, sort of let's figure out how to build like a NASDAQ on a blockchain that's 24-7 with like 15 millisecond latency. And sort of that drive and that commercial thinking made Solana what it is today and sort of reinforced us to sort of build the sort of future of finance fintech on these rails."

![Your Company Needs a Vision — Solana Founder Anatoly Yakovenko
You have to have some vision that youre building towards. Whenever I heard these stories, like before starting a company, none of that sunk in. It all seemed like BS. But you actually do need to have some vision that youre constantly betting on, blindly. Because only the company that builds us fast towards the right thing will survive.
And you have no idea if youre building towards the right thing, but you kind of have to make a gut decision. Cheaper, faster transactions are the most important thing [for Solana].
-Solana Founder Anatoly Yakovenko at Accerlate Miami 2026
