Having solved a piano-based puzzle within the library area of the Dark Sanctuary, Kris, Susie, and Ralsei continue forward until they reach an area as dark as where they first met the Old Man. Susie pauses to ask Ralsei why he didn't just say how to solve that puzzle, since he mentioned knowing all of the prophecy, but the Darkner doesn't give a clear answer, thinking it better that he not say anything... Eventually, he finds a light switch, using it to evade Susie's questions, but when turned on, the group is revealed to be walking on air! They then take a tumble, and Kris ends up hurt as a result... When Susie tries to heal them, Ralsei quickly cuts her off, using his magic to cure them all. They then continue forward, hearing a strange voice as they wander around... The further they move, the darker it gets, until eventually, they spot an eerie pair of eyes, launching them into a battle in the dark! This apparently hulking entity uses a strange battle style, restricting TP gathering through the standard methods... Though, the treasures scattered around might appear to provide some sort of aid. The more treasures gathered, the more the Lightners get chased by a big pumpkin, too! Eventually, the amount of TP gained from gathering the treasure causes Kris's SOUL to unleash a bright light, which appears to weaken the enemy! After three times of this brightening, the figure's true form is revealed, prompting it to run off in fright! However, it crashes into a chandelier, causing it great pain...! Ralsei tries to heal it, but it doesn't appear to be effective at all... Susie, meanwhile, isn't feeling confident in her own healing skills, and is confronted by the Old Man, who dares her to heal him and prove she isn't and 'purple-bellied coward'. Susie complies, but her blast ends up hitting the large pumpkin-faced being's mouth instead, which ultimately ends up being just the thing it needed! Grateful, the pumpkin Darkner, named Jackenstein, gives the Lightners a set of climbing tools, which may prove helpful for exploration and solving the puzzles mentioned by the Old Man in his study... Susie appears to be feeling better about her healing, too.
