New longest completed level, and an unintentional maymory completion. I started this early on last month, and it was very difficult for me to find the willpower to finish it. Learning it was somewhat fun, being as easy as it is to get some long runs in not much time, but once I had to play from 0% it got old quick. Being 9 and a half minutes long, having about 8 and a half minutes of it all in slow speed made much of the level pretty boring to me in the best of times. It also creates some serious corner block problems in the dark sections. There are so many spots in this level, mainly in cube parts but also the spider at around 26%, that have blocks with spikes on them, so normally you shouldn't be able to land on the blocks, but because of the slow speed, not only can you land on the corners and die because of it, but it happens very frequently. Nothing made me more upset than spending a minimum of 2 minutes to reach the second dark section at 24%, only to hit a corner somewhere and have to get back there again. It was especially miserable having died between 24-30% a good 20 times or so, usually because of this, and with only like 6 attempts having made it to the 40s. It doesn't help at all either that the difficulty is simply very frontloaded to begin with. I can say undoubtedly that 0-31% is comfortably harder than 31-100%, which on its own wouldn't be that big of an issue, but it became unbearable when the reason why I struggled so much on it was because of those block corners. It would be so easy to fix those spots as well, and the level would be so much better off because of it. I'm also not a fan of the player visibility being flickered on and off at points. It's not a major issue most of the time, but it really got in the way of some timings, primarily in the 40s section. I doubt I would've died 3 times to the mini cube there if the player visibility wasn't being tampered with. It also felt terrible to have fluked from 24% to 77%, only to be stuck with that as my best for several weeks. I thought for sure I was going to have some trouble with the ending from 0% when I would eventually get there, but to my surprise nothing happened, so there's that at least. This was a pretty disappointing experience for me, knowing how well-liked of a level this is, but one thing I will say is that I can't take anything away from this level as an artistic statement. It's one of the most well executed levels I've seen for what it sets out to do, and while playing it was a different story, I do appreciate this level's existence, and I really do enjoy watching it as it progresses. I just don't think it was really worth playing it in the end.
