This is a pretty song to play on the C6th. I'm using a standard C6th setup. For this song I'm using pedals 5,6,7 and one knee lever that lowers my 3rd string from C to B. Pressing pedals 5 and 6 together gives you a nice diminished chord, which repeats every three frets. That's what I'm doing when I slide up several times at the end of the melody. I play the melody through twice.

My amp is a Peavey Nashville 112, which I like a lot. Model "112" stands for one 12" inch speaker. It's a mid-sized solid-state amp, but not good for a large setting. For steel guitar, I prefer a 15" speaker (which I have in my Evans amp), but it's broken and I need to get it repaired eventually. I have the old heavy 15" speaker. Evans' new amps use much lighter 15" speakers. The Evans is better than the Peavey in my opinion, giving you a lot more tone shaping controls, but it's also twice the price. I haven't tried the Fender "Steel King" (15" speaker), but would like to.

I cherish my Pro-II Sho-Bud guitar. Thank you Lord! The Pro II's were unique, having wooden necks on a wooden body. The Pro III's had aluminum necks, which most pedal steels do, and it's a completely different metallic sound. I have original stock pickups.

I use a Goodrich volume pedal, low-profile. The pots don't last more than a year it seems, becoming horribly scratchy (heard through the amp). I rebuilt this pedal in December of 2012 with one of the new high-usage Goodrich pots and so far it's working great.

Of course, I always use a BOSS DD-3 digital delay effects pedal for pedal steel. It's the only effect that I use. It's the most important piece of quipment for any pedal steel player. The delay really enhances the sound. BOSS (now owned by Roland) is the best quality in my humble opinion. The trick is to use enough delay to enhance your sound, but not so much that it detracts from your playing. The delay timing should match the tempo of the song you are playing.

I use a stainless steel BJS brand bar.
