This piece is quite the mish-mash of elements. The general theme is sort of a "last level" vibe, similar to that of Wily's Castle from the old Megaman games. Though this piece has no particular assigned use or purpose- it just kinda "is."
This tune was one of the first pieces I started to compose when I got my new laptop and a copy of Logic Pro back in 2010. I ultimately gave up on ever finishing it, due to a lack of inspiration and lack of vision of what I wanted to do with the piece.
However, I have revisited the file session multiple times over the last 6 years, adding a little bit here or there, before ultimately forgetting about it or losing interest in it once again. Well I finally found the inspiration to sit down and finish it as of late. Though I'm still not satisfied with it, I figured its as close to being "done" as it'll ever be. And it got to the point where the more I worked on it, the more muddled it began to sound. So this is as good as it's gonna get. And the perfectionist in me is cringing at that lol.
Those of you who are familiar with my other OCs will hear a lot of familiarity in this one. The bass and drums aren't anything innovative, and the chord progression is a very common one used in quite a bit of game music for "intense" type levels. Many of the instruments are the the same as several of my other OCs, and many of the melodic lines are borrowed from, or ended up being used in, other pieces I was working on. So this one is definitely a Frankenstein's monster of sorts in that regard.
