Our first time exploring Dallas, Texas!
What are the best things to do in the DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) area? Let's find out!
We started out day at the Fort Worth stockyard. This is absolutely a must-do in Texas. It's very commercial and touristic nowadays, but it has some very real Cowboy history, inlcuding the oldest saloon in America where shootouts with Cowboys happened a hungdred+ of years ago. People tend to get dressed up in their Cowboy/ Cowgirl outfits and come out for a good time. We also went to eat some TEX-MEX! We might have an interesting opinion here because we were just in Mexico around 3 weeks ago. You'll have to watch this section to see if Tex-Mex tacos can compare with the ones we have in CDMX (Mexico city.)
Next, we went the Star at Frisco. This is the Dallas Cowboys training/ practice facility for the players, and well as the headquarters for the staff. We took a guided tour and (if you're a heavy duty Cowboys fan), it was awesome! We also saw something called the 'Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Extravaganza.' As it turns out, nobody puts on a show like the Dallas Cowboys. We didn't know what to expect for this show, but we saw: former players, the cheerleaders, Santa Claus, fireworks and more. It really was an extravaganze.
Next up: The most highest-rated and recommended things from our audience: Grapevine, TX. This was probably our favorite thing we did on the whole trip. They call this place the "Center of Christmas in Texas", and it certainly felt that way. Christmas themed lights all around a quaint little downtown strip. We loved it, and our duaghter did too!
Afterwards we (finally) made it to downtown Dallas. We found the streets to be quiet, clean and pleasant to walk around. We ended up at a place called Deep Ellum, which is known to be hip and tendry. We saw a lot of thrift shops and even a guy driving down the street with a gigantic snake hanging out the window. No kidding. It's an interesting place.
Lastly, we tried Texas barbecue, which might be the best food in the world. Pork ribs and brisket. I really don't have the vocabulary to describe how good it is. You'll have to try it for yourself. It's really one of the top things to do in Texas: eat barbecue.
BONUS: We went to AT&T stadium for a game that my beloved Cowboys LOST and officially eliminated themselves from the playoffs. A heartbreaking day.
DOUBLE BONUS: We went to the JKW assassination museum, although there are no videos allowed there. Nevertheless, I would really recommend the museum. It's set in the exact room where (allegedly?) Lee Hardvey Oswald shot the president from. You can see big X's marking the street where the bullets hit him. Surprisingly: the museum totally entertains the idea of a conspiracy against JFK. It's very interesting
