The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) began as a squad of high school students. By the time Texas Stadium opened in 1971, the spirit organization needed a makeover. Director Dee Brock and choreographer Texie Waterman proceeded to reimagine the cheerleaders as skilled dancers and brand ambassadors, debuting star-spangled uniforms at the start of the 1972 season. The changes revolutionized the look and expression of sideline entertainment and turned the DCC into a lasting symbol of Texas popular culture.
