An estimated 70 to 90 percent of Czech immigrants to Texas were Catholic, with several of their churches becoming popular tourist destinations for their colorfully painted interiors. Crosby residents formed what would become the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1908. Forty years later, the parish opened the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Established in 1941, Czech Fest raises money for both. The annual bazaar attracts parishioners and non-parishioners alike with a day of polka music and delicious pastries.
