Kierio04 | CTGP Tracks Done Backwards - Big Nature City 0x Respawns (11/218) @Kierio04 | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated 5 minutes ago
In this video, I drive a full lap of the custom track Big Nature City backwards with the 3 mushrooms available in time trials. Because this doesn't actually require all of the mushrooms, I don't use them all. In order for a track to count as being completed backwards, you must start in lap 1 and travel through all of lap 0 backwards, finishing by reaching lap -1. We will be going through the tracks of the CTGP 1.03-1112 update (29 Sep 2021) alphabetically, and returning to any past tracks if breakthroughs are made that change the statistics of the progression of the challenge (more on this later in the description).

Here, there are NO respawns that are mandatory to complete the track backwards, and there are 2 sections requiring a mushroom each.

What I do in the video has undergone a lot of transformation that has been documented on my second channel (youtube.com/channel/UCGPuKK14yEQrqkkXV2NmYbA). Special thanks to EmuTheCat (youtube.com/channel/UCag8yvhqE0P5nNef_0IcWvQ) for TASing everything from 0:15 to 0:19, and this is police (youtube.com/channel/UC3f4F6RX4gBHOGxG6owYigg) for TASing everything from 0:19 to 0:32 and coming up with the strats used at 1:58, 2:15, and 2:23.

On this track, there are 3 potential blockage points ("blocks"):
1. Getting to the beginning of the final cannon
2. Getting out of the pool
3. Getting across the river

Nothing on this track was trivial when going into it, and there was never a point where we were 100% sure everything would work out. I started working on this shortly after I uploaded the original Abandoned Boardwalk and Abyssal Ruins videos and drove forwards to plan out the backwards route. I came up with a 4 mushroom route (1 mushroom to skip the 1st block with a wallclip up to the ramp, 1 mushroom to skip the 2nd block with a wallclip, and 2 mushrooms to skip the 3rd block with a wallclip). I was unable to perform the first 2 myself, but managed to get the 3rd one. I never saved the ghost but recreated it again a couple days ago (youtu.be/Di5vZSFWZko) and documented it, noting that I thought a fence clip on the right side of the track would be better since it would cut 1 mushroom. Around this time, EmuTheCat demonstrated a method for the 1st block skip (youtu.be/sduOuLYeZFQ), which clipped the fence on the left side instead of the right side as I had envisioned. this is police theorised a way to perform this shroomless using the fence blocking the road (cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/891072226340765707/916768112173535242/unknown.png) but that never led to any success.

The 2nd block caused us the most trouble. We spent multiple weeks trying to get a high clip out of the pool and never managed to. I still believe it's possible but it turned out that it wasn't necessary. If you combine all the strats mentioned so far then; 1 mushroom is used on the 1st block, 1 would be used on the 2nd, and 2 (or 1) would be used on the 3rd, for a total of 4 (or 3) mushrooms. A few days ago, EmuTheCat devised a way to skip the 2nd and 3rd blocks together with 2 mushrooms (1 to clip on to an OOB seam well before the pool, and 1 to go from that seam to a second seam, which took you all the way to the ramp before the river), which proved the track to be possible backwards, and made the pool clip not completely necessary (it would still be faster to do it over the long seam riding route, but it wasn't known if it was even possible) - video here (youtu.be/AOmMCJas9k4). This was later improved by 1 mushroom by this is police, by clipping directly to the second seam (youtu.be/BmKAZrwvdvI), making the seam riding route the superior route.

You may notice the wheelie drop at 1:28. This is due to some form of slow wheelie glitch that's still being investigated towards a further understanding. Under our current assumptions, the only way to pass this OOB plane is by going slower than ~9.29 speed. That is done by dropping the wheelie, which reduces my speed from 9.844 to 8.56 (from 10% wheelie speed to 10% regular speed).

In summary, Big Nature City has the following statistics to offer:
Minimum Respawns for Infinite Mushrooms: 0
Minimum Respawns for 3, 2, 1, 0 Mushrooms: 0, 0, N/A, N/A
Minimum Mushrooms for Minimum Respawns: 2
Minimum Mushrooms for Track Completion: 2
