The Canadian prairie province of Saskatchewan definitely doesn't get as much press as the more populated provinces, but there are so many cool things to explore here. Here are some cryptid legends from Saskatchewan's folklore and mythology. 2 of these cryptids are not specific to the province, they have been seen across North America. One creature is specific to a particular body of water in the province.
I talk about the legends of the Dogman, Bigfoot/Sasquatch and the Turtle Lake monster.
Cryptids are essentially creatures/beings whose existence has not been officially proven or classified by mainstream science. Some think that they are biological creatures, and others theorize that they may be spiritual/energetic on nature or perhaps even something resembling an interdimensional being.
Some cryptids are definitely reportedly seen quite regularly, and some legendary creatures have mainly been seen in the the past.
Wherever you are on the spectrum of belief/skepticism, cryptids can be a lot of fun to research and it definitely helps teach one a bit more Indigenous and European mythology and folklore.
