SUBURB LIFE
In the suburbs, the local squirrels, many times, are adopted as pets. The wives in the area banded together and put the squirrels off limits. They feed them and enjoy watching their antics.
As it gets close to mating season, we enjoy watching the squirrels chasing each other across the fence and racing through the trees. The guys have learned to use repellent to keep the squirrels out of gardens.
Ferrel rabbits, on the other hand, have to be dealt with, and the ladies get it. At first, the onslaught of rabbits caused curiosity, but the burrowing and their appetite changed the inviting mindset. Once gardens got wiped out and flowers and flower gardens were razed by cotton tails, the ladies stepped back.
Guns like the Legacy and 880 can do the job. shots of under 10 yards are not rare. Without predators to keep them keen, they have weak danger radars. So magnums and PCPs are out of place in suburbs and are too risky. They can shoot through a fence and put people, pets, and glass at risk.
It was decided that squirrels were native and here before the suburb. Cotton tails are not native and are only around because guys buy them for girlfriends, then when they aren't cute bunnies anymore, "give them freedom." Meaning they dump them on the street.
