Seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie werden die Nachrichten weltweit von der Pandemie bestimmt. Bereits im Mai 2020 forderte die Virologin Melanie Brinkmann gemeinsam mit vielen Ärzten und Wissenschaftler*innen von der Politik ein effizientes Vorgehen gegen Falschinformationen zur COVID-19-Pandemie und wehrte sich gegen fachfremde Kritik an Virolog*innen. Ebenfalls ist sie Mitglied der No-Covid Initiative, einer interdisziplinären Gruppe von Wissenschaftler*innen, die eine nachhaltige Öffnungsstrategie formuliert hat. In ihrem Vortrag wird Melanie Brinkmann die wichtigen Etappen der Kommunikation über das Virus in der Wissenschaft, zwischen Wissenschaft und Politik sowie zwischen Politik und Gesellschaft und den Medien Revue passieren lassen und der Frage nachgehen, ob wir irgendetwas gelernt haben, seit wir die ersten Nachrichten aus Wuhan hörten und die ersten Bilder aus Bergamo sahen.
