This was a two day trip. Day 1 we hiked 4 miles from S Colony Lake trailhead to Lower Colony Lake to camp overnight. The next morning (8/12/2023) we left camp at 4:30am as forecast called for rain around late morning. We took the west gully class 3 route and summited around 7:30am. Rain did arrive around 10am as we got back to camp. As we were heading back to trailhead, we saw SAR vehicle going up the road to rescue some folks who got stuck below the summit in the rain. Total hiking stats from car is 12 miles, with 4,400ft elevation gain. This hike presented quite a bit of technical and route-finding challenges with plenty of class3 scramble with exposure. Very fun hike and an awesome 14er experience
