"Crazy Little Thing Called Love", by the rock band Queen, was written by the late iconic Freddie Mercury of the band in 1979. After it was released as a single from their album The Game, it peaked at #2 in the UK Singles Chart in 1979, and became the group's first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S in 1980. According to Mercury at the time, he came up with the song as a tribute to Elvis Presley and his early rock-a-billy style. Though it was a different sound for Queen, their fans loved it.
