"The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" is a 1966 The Walker Brothers remake of a song that was originally written for Frankie Valli's 1965 solo release. The Walker Brothers version met with much greater success topping the UK Singles Chart, and became their highest rating song on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart peaking at #13. The song uses an arrangement that closely resembled producer Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" technique. The trio are not related in any way, but adopted the "Walker" professionally. The mood of this ballad came about when song co-writers Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio were both a little depressed on a gloomy rainy day in New York city, and the song just came out. The Walker Brothers version was used in the promotional trailer for the AMC television series The Walking Dead. In the UK, it is regarded as a death song supposedly due to an incident in the mid 1960s about a legendary London gangster who shot and killed a rival in a pub. The song happened to be playing on the jukebox at the time.
