Footage and images show a 19th-century former church south of Bristol, England, which Joe and Mary Smith bought for £490,000 in January 2026. The couple were drawn to its original stained-glass windows, hardwood floors and other historic features, but say the former crypt basement has an eerie atmosphere. Mary says she has heard whistling and footsteps near the basement, while an antique hymn board has reportedly fallen from its wall twice. The couple also have a vintage clock that no longer works, but say the unusual experiences have not changed how much they love their distinctive new home and its history.
