Residents from Exeter say hundreds of fish have died in a rapidly drying pond as drought conditions worsen across parts of England.
Locals raised the alarm after spotting fish struggling in just inches of water at a housing estate pond in Pinhoe.
Volunteers have helped rescue around 600 fish, while residents criticised what they see as a lack of action from authorities.
The Environment Agency said it is prioritising fish rescues in rivers and streams and cannot carry out rescues in ornamental ponds, but can offer advice on safely relocating fish.
