Critically endangered Central Rock-rats airlift to safety in a bold, week-long operation to secure their future 🚁🐀

AWC, Alice Springs Desert Park and the the Northern Territory Government's Flora and Fauna Division joined forces to trap Rock-rats from sites across Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park* late last month.

58 rats were then airlifted by helicopter and released into our 9,450-hectare feral predator-free safe haven at Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary (NT).

This is the sixth species to be reintroduced at Newhaven.
