At the BR41N.IO BCI & Neurotechnology Hackathon, Team InTune developed an innovative neurotechnology platform that uses two Unicorn Hybrid Black EEG headsets to transform brain activity into a shared audiovisual experience. The project explores how Brain-Computer Interfaces can create new forms of emotional connection, communication, and self-expression by making mental states visible in real time.
Connection is at the core of human interaction, yet many thoughts, emotions, and internal experiences remain difficult to communicate. InTune uses Unicorn Hybrid Black to capture EEG activity from two participants simultaneously and translate their neural signals into dynamic visual and auditory representations. Instead of communicating through words alone, participants can experience aspects of each other's mental state through a shared neurotechnology experience.
The system streams real-time EEG data from two Unicorn Hybrid Black headsets to a common processing platform. Using advanced signal processing techniques, dominant brain rhythms are extracted and analyzed before being transformed into immersive audiovisual feedback. The platform also measures neural coherence between participants and visualizes moments of brain synchronization, creating a unique Brain-Computer Interface experience where connection itself becomes visible.
A major advantage of Unicorn Hybrid Black is the ability to rapidly deploy multi-user EEG applications without worrying about hardware integration, signal acquisition infrastructure, data streaming, or software development challenges. Because Unicorn Hybrid Black provides high-quality EEG acquisition in a compact, ready-to-use platform, the team could immediately focus on developing the user experience, real-time neurofeedback, signal processing, and visualization components of the project rather than spending valuable hackathon time building the underlying EEG infrastructure.
With Unicorn Suite and the Unicorn Hybrid Black ecosystem, participants can rapidly prototype Brain-Computer Interface applications involving real-time EEG acquisition, neurofeedback, neural decoding, cognitive neuroscience, and human-computer interaction. This makes Unicorn Hybrid Black an ideal platform for transforming innovative ideas into working neurotechnology solutions within a single hackathon.
InTune demonstrates how Unicorn Hybrid Black, EEG, Brain-Computer Interfaces, neurofeedback, social neuroscience, neural synchronization, and real-time signal processing can be combined to create entirely new forms of communication and connection. Potential applications include non-verbal communication, autism support, therapeutic environments, emotional awareness, digital health, and immersive neurotechnology experiences that help people better understand themselves and one another.
This project showcases how Unicorn Hybrid Black enables rapid BCI innovation and empowers teams to build meaningful neurotechnology applications that move beyond traditional Brain-Computer Interface control toward deeper human connection and understanding.
