This building houses the Connecticut Senate, House of Representatives, Governor, and Secretary of State! It's the third building to serve as the state's capitol since the American Revolution. Before the Civil War, Connecticut had two simultaneous capitols in Hartford (here) and New Haven (Yale University). The current site was chosen after purchasing the land from Trinity University, and opened in 1878. It serves as a memorial to the 10,000 soldiers Connecticut lost in the Civil War and was designated a US National Historical Landmark in 1971. You can check out the amazing architecture and 32 statues around the gardens and throughout the building on the guided tours each week day!
