On Wednesday, Aug. 12, a partial solar eclipse will briefly take a bite out of the sun over Connecticut.

That same night, the Perseid Meteor Shower peaks (weather permitting) under the dark skies of a new moon.

Meteorologist Dan Amarante explains the science behind this eventful day of skygazing.
