We headed up to Menifee to take a tour of the new Commencal Warehouse. This warehouse just opened a year ago and this is where all the Commencal bikes are shipped from in the U.S. The show room is beautiful and it displays all of the bikes in their line up. The show room is open to the public and this is where you go to demo their bikes. You will want to go online and book your demo to make sure the bike you want is available especially on weekends.
I had the chance to test ride the Commencal Meta Power SX 400 (170/170) the week before in Laguna so I was stoked to test ride the T.E.M.P.O. Power which is the shorter 150/135 travel light e bike. Both bikes use the Bosch SX light motor with 400 watt battery.
Greer Ranch is a 1 min pedal from the show room so it was cool to jump on the bike and pedal to the trails. We hit Distortion, Double Ds, Nerf Herder, Insidious, Over Drive, Jumping Mouse, Thrasher and Little Cheese. I feel like these trails were perfect for this bike. I would say the bike handled all the trails really good, but Insidious was the only trail where I felt the bike was feeling a little twitchy.
I was most impressed by how easy the bike was able to climb and how fun and poppy the bike felt riding. This is probably the E bike that felt most like a regular bike to me. Between the T.E.M.P.O. and Meta SX 400 I would personally choose the Meta Power SX because I ride more gnarly trails but if you don't ride a lot of steep chunky trails then I would say the TEMPO is the bike for you.
