Comet 3I ATLAS is doing something unusual — and I captured it.

In this video, I share a real image I personally took of Comet 3I ATLAS showing an antitail structure that shouldn’t look like this.

Antitails are rare and often misunderstood. What makes this one strange is not just that it exists — but how it appears oriented relative to the Sun and the rest of the solar system.

This is not CGI, not AI, and not a simulation.
What you’re seeing is the result of:
• Dust released earlier in the comet’s orbit
• Perspective and viewing geometry from Earth
• Solar radiation pressure acting differently on dust vs gas

When these factors align just right, an antitail can appear to point the wrong way — and that’s exactly what makes this image special.

I’ll explain what an antitail really is, why this one looks so strange, and why it does not violate physics, even though it challenges our intuition.
