Omar Kamel's review of Colossal Cave on Meta Quest 2: Cygnus Entertainment's VR port of the 1976 text adventure that invented the genre.
A $39.99 VR port of a text adventure, controlled by a point-and-click system neither the original nor the medium ever asked for.
Colossal Cave on Meta Quest 2 is Cygnus Entertainment's VR port of Roberta and Ken Williams' remake of the seminal 1976 text adventure - priced at $39.99, the same as Resident Evil 4. Rather than let you use your hands, it maps everything to an eye-cursor point-and-click interface that belongs to DOS-era adventure games, not a medium built on presence. Second-person framing, no autosave, and limited locomotion complete the package. Omar gives it 2.5/10, Nostalgia bait for older VR players who will recognize the name.
