A clockwork automaton of the late 19th century. The label underneath shows he served in the window of a Parisian Bookshop. Exceptional condition, completely original paint and silk costume. The mechanical principle used is the Compound Pendulum, (a pendulum with weight above and below the pivot point) it can be slowed by adding weight above, in the hat. Bit Scary.
