A sort of updated 'Cosby Show', 1996's 'Moesha' also centered around an upper middle class black family. CBS turned it down but it ran for six seasons on UPN. There were a number of 'very special episodes' that tackled more serious issues, and the NAACP had high praise for the series. The theme was composed by star Brandy and music director Kurt Farquhar. There were basically two different openings (with minor tweaks here and there) and a cast change in the final season.
