Hundreds of Lindsay Clancy supporters cheered loudly and showered praise on her defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, at a rally outside the courthouse Thursday.
The crowd erupted in applause as Reddington walked toward the courthouse, with one supporter shouting, “We love you, Kevin!” Asked about the overwhelming reception and support for his client, Reddington could only respond: “Thank you, that’s all I can say. It’s amazing.”
Reddington said the attention surrounding Clancy’s case has grown into a much broader conversation about women’s mental health and what he believes are serious shortcomings in the way psychiatric care is delivered.
The rally drew hundreds of people carrying messages including “Believe,” “She Needed Help” and “Peace For Lindsay.” Organizer Renee Kimball told the crowd that Reddington “has Lindsay’s fight,” while supporters applauded him again as he entered the courthouse.
Clancy is on trial for the 2023 deaths of her three children. Her attorneys do not dispute that she killed them, but argue she was suffering from severe mental illness and was not criminally responsible. Prosecutors contend the killings were planned.
