A Christian caller asked me to name one "Christian moral" that's actually bad. So I showed him that the Bible treats women as property — from Exodus 20:17 to the bride price to the law that turns a rape victim into "damaged goods." He tried to hide behind his translation. Then he ran.
David couldn't answer one simple question about Luke 1: when Gabriel tells Mary "you WILL conceive," where does she get to say no?
When you follow the words instead of the Sunday-school gloss, the Old Testament's view of women gets ugly fast — and it doesn't stop being Jesus' problem just because you believe in the Trinity. If Jesus is God and God is unchanging, then Jesus is on the hook for all 613 commandments, including the ones that price a woman like livestock.
In this call, David defends biblical marriage, the bride price, and the idea that "my Bible says wife" saves the verse from meaning what the Hebrew actually says. It doesn't. We walk through Exodus 20:17 (a wife listed alongside slaves, oxen, and donkeys), the bride price, a father's power to sell a daughter, and the "damaged goods" logic behind the OT's marriage laws. Then we get to Luke 1 and the question that ended the call: where is Mary's consent?
Topics: women as property in the Bible, biblical misogyny, the bride price, Exodus 20:17, biblical marriage, the original Hebrew vs your English translation, Luke 1 and the Annunciation, the Trinity and the God of the Old Testament, and why "no true Scotsman" isn't a get-out-of-jail card for the text.
If you've ever been told the Bible "elevated" women, watch what happens when a believer has to defend the actual verses.

Christian caller Colgate Dre defends biblical marriage authority using Ephesians 5 and 1 Corinthians 7—but gets absolutely demolished when pressed on consent, bodily autonomy, and the drop a $10 bill scenario. This intense debate covers Old Testament law, womens submission in Christian marriage, and whether the Bible endorses marital grape. Watch as atheists systematically dismantle his arguments while another guest, Lathe, weighs in with a womans perspective on these disturbing takes.
In this conversation, we tackle:
✅ Does Jesus affirm Old Testament laws? (Matthew 5:17-19)
✅ Women as property in the Ten Commandments
✅ Ephesians 5:22-25 and wifely submission
✅ 1 Corinthians 7:4-5 and bodily autonomy
✅ What genuine consent means in marriage
✅ The 69 nos and 1 yes = yes problem
✅ Why marriage doesnt give blanket consent
✅ Objective vs subjective Christian morality
This is a masterclass in consent education, biblical criticism, and why Christian morals may do more harm than good regarding womens rights and relationship dynamics.
