Whats Up, Heathens! Tonight were going live to defend Minimal Mythicism — the position that the Jesus of the gospels didnt start as a flesh-and-blood historical man, but as a celestial being who got euhemerized into history after the fact. If you think you can prove me wrong, the call line is open.
Minimal Mythicism, as laid out by Dr. Richard Carrier in On the Historicity of Jesus, makes three core claims: that Jesus began as a celestial being known through revelation and scripture, that he was later placed into a historical setting in allegorical narratives, and that the historical figure most Christians believe in was constructed after the fact. Thats it. No conspiracy. No claim that nobody named Jesus ever lived. Just an evidence-based argument that the Christ of the Bible isnt a historical person — and the evidence we DO have for early Christian origins fits a celestial-Jesus model far more parsimoniously than a historical one.
