China plans to collect anti-dumping duties on European brandy imports from October 11, 2024. The European Union said it would challenge the move, announced just days after Brussels voted to impose tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, at the World Trade Organization. Beijing’s plans would require major French brands such as Martell, Remy Martin and Hennessy to pay “security charges” of at least 30 per cent on imports into China.
