The Taiwanese company Gold Apollo has denied producing the pagers that detonated across Lebanon on September 17, 2024. Gold Apollo said Hungarian manufacturer BAC was licensed to use its brand when it made and sold the AR-924 model used in the attacks. At least nine people were killed and nearly 3,000 injured when the devices exploded in what officials called a coordinated attack. Militant Hezbollah fighters have been using the relatively low-tech wireless communication devices to avoid Israeli location-tracking. On July 30, a senior Hezbollah commander was killed in an Israeli air strike.
