Nova Scotia Power announced they would have a planned power outage. Let's make sure we're ready for it!!
When Nannie and I decided to move to the lake full time we wanted to be as self-reliant as we could. We did a lot of preparation and work to get set up to be as self-reliant as we thought we needed to be. But then we had a 3 or 4 day power outage, which where we are in remote central Nova Scotia is not out of the ordinary to happen.
That was an eye opener for us. We had to be more self-reliant when it comes to our power needs. So we bought a generator.
Then along comes Hurricane Fiona and we were without power for about 14 days. And guess what? Other than being careful not to use all our fuel, because gas was hard to get when no garages had power to pump gas, our generator allowed us to be hardly affected by the power outage.
It showed me that I could feel pretty good about being self-reliant when it comes to power needs now.
So that brings me back to what this video is about. I want to make sure my generator and cables and switch panel are all in tip top shape for this 'planned' power outage so that I'll be ready for the 'unplanned' outages as we enter the fall storm season.
