I had to move the DRO out of the way to allow me to turn larger diameter stock and I had an idea to use aluminium foil as a temporary way cover. It's attached to the steel plate that secures the DRO with a magnet and it works really well. I might actually keep it on permanently :)
It's easy to stretch or fold as needed and when worn out cheap and easy to replace.
