Easy weekend project on the lathe and mill. Make yourself a modular edge finder in under an hour.
The wiggler end is turned from a 10mm hardened chrome linear shaft, the body from 10mm stainless steel rod and the end cap from brass.
Edit: I was recommended Tom Lipton's video after I posted this, not sure how I missed it. It's a similar design but he obviously does a much better job at explaining and making a more precise edge finder. The key part regarding lapping the mating surfaces is very useful, it will help improve the kickback. Highly recommend you watch that.
