The dream of producing super energy efficient homes that can produce as much energy as they consume has come a long way in a short time. Since the Canadian Home Builders (CHBA) launched their net zero labelling program hundreds of builders have signed on and thousands of homes have been labelled.
We are pleased to launch our new series Chasing Net Zero, the stories of those pioneering builders who've learned from each other to learn to build net zero homes that are now so affordable that in some cases the cost of ownership is actually lower starting in month one when you factor in utility savings and discounts on mortgage insurance..
Plus homeowners are getting some of the best homes every built with abundant fresh air, no drafts, high levels of comfort, and low levels of energy use protecting them from the chaos in the energy markets.
These homes provide energy security and protection from high energy costs.
In this episode we talk to Sonja Winkelmann and Colin Bayne of the Canadian Home Builders Net Zero Labelling program as we get set to head out on a tour across Canada meeting some of the amazing builders building these homes of the future.
