Virtual Power Plants allow tens, hundreds or even thousands of energy generators such as solar and energy storage systems to be interconnected to provide energy to the grid when it's needed, just like a peaking power plant. It turns out by doing this you can provide peaking power for 40% less cost than a conventional peaking plant.
This week we talk to Dwayne Caldwell, the CEO of a three-year old startup called ENSPI Technologies that is helping businesses reduce their energy use, manage their energy use and even interconnect their energy resources into a virtual power plant. The result is savings and revenue for the businesses.
