On June 19, 2021, Central Railroad of New Jersey 113 made its first journey from its home in Minersville, PA all the way to the Reading & Northern Headquarters in Port Clinton since 2016. The occasion was a fundraiser for RBMN engineer Chris Bost, who was tragically recently diagnosed with the rare nerve disease CIPD. To help him and his family, Railway Restoration Project 113 sponsored CNJ 113's longest excursion to date, with the locomotive leading both ways for the first time, and the RBMN lent their two passenger gondolas to allow riders to fully experience the chonky switcher as it made its way along the Schuylkill line. Upon the return to Minersville, passengers were treated to a BBQ pig roast as an additional fundraiser. Despite a long delay at Port Clinton and some rain that appeared late in the afternoon it was a great day out for all involved. With any luck the money raised will be able to help Mr. Bost and his family through these trying times, and I wish them the best.
